The whip strikes, hits solid ground
The target has fled, will not be found
We hide among trees in the depths of the woods
Battling and siding when we know that we should
Captors of yore disperse through the wild
Hunting for quarry long since self-exiled
With nets and traps, they’ll circle ‘round
Listening intently, in search of our sound
The forest burns at the crack of fire whip
Groaning and screaming, the trees start to tip
Creatures darting and scurrying for cover
One home destroyed, now we search for another
Evading the hands that clasp and grab
Circumventing the fists that plunge and stab
For how long can we avoid our certain return
Everywhere we run doomed to burn
Flames consume our refuge
Smoke clouds the skies
If this place is no more
Then surely some shall die
Fire whip knows no mercy
It trains and beats us dead
We know not what these intruders think
We’re stuck outside their heads
Fissures dart through dirt
Splitting up the land
Prolonging cracks and scars
Spitting hissing sand
Leaping ‘cross new gorges
And escaping from the wreck
The captors wait to bag us
And end our forced trek
The journey will be perilous
Full of pain and strife
We can’t afford to mourn our loss
Just as there is no second life
We disperse into streets
Trying to lie low
It cannot protect us
My experience does show
You panic and tremble at the thought of the unknown
And so I live out my days out of sight and alone
